There is nothing but good news at the moment, we are set for a heat wave over the Easter and Passover festival season and there are more reasons to smile. The Wickerman Festival line-up has also been announced and shows some of the hottest Scottish and international talent will be giving the temporary inhabitants of East Kirkcarswell Farm during the 22nd and 23rd July.
Okay, so there are some pretty interesting acts already, Feeder, The Dammed as well as Echo & The Bunnymen. Like bees to the honeypot, the Wickerpeople of the world will descend on the farm not just to view the old established acts. Indeed, the real treasures are to be found in The Solus Tent with new talents like Jack Townes and Dam Mantle will be playing. However, the most excitement is being reserved for Rachel Sermanni who has played in bizarre situations before and so the masks and other slightly eccentric elements of Wickeman will not trouble her. This is something she is quite excited about “I’m delighted to have been asked to play the festival after playing it last year in the Acoustic Village…July can’t come quickly enough for me!”
Still one should not forget the other talents who will make this a weekend to remember (or a weekend of excited blur). Bear Bones, Black Sun Drum Corps, Blochestra, Citizens, Deslavo, Endor, Davey Horne, RM Hubber, Letters, Miaoux Miaoux, Randolph’s Leap, Reverie, Trapped in Kanas and Vukovi are further evidence of emerging talent in Scotland and The Wickerman’s finger on the pulse attitude.
The tenth festival will have all the usual treats – as many acts as there will be tents, the Axis Sound System Tent and its bass love. Although, this is a show which is still innovating and developing its ideas in to new and interesting places as the new goNorth Festival Tour Stage will be up for the first time this year.
Tickets are available from the festival website and link costing £90 for the weekend, including camping.
