Dave McPherson - Sneaky Pete's
Live Review

Dave McPherson – Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh

Dave McPherson is no stranger to hard graft after spending the past 5 years plugging away with his solo material, so it’s nice to finally see his efforts come to fruition with the release of his debut solo album The Hardship Diaries. A far cry from his days as InMe frontman, Dave played an intimate gig in Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s and seemed a genuinely humble-but-talented guy.

Managing to strike the balance between entertaining and impressive, Dave showcased his powerful voice that commanded attention but kept the banter flowing between songs. His passion and talent emanated from tracks such as “Hearts Need Blood” and “I Don’t Do Requests” whilst the covers thrown in showed his interpretation ability. The ingenious, fast paced cover of “Boom Shake the Room” was a highlight along with John Mayer’s “My Stupid Mouth”.

A stripped down version of InMe’s hit “Faster the Chase” only required minimal vocals from Dave thanks to the mass crowd participation that also demanded him back on stage for “…one more song!” The combination of his song writing skills and genuine likeability makes Dave definitely one to watch for the future.
