…Because he only listens to nu-wave.
Well well well, what a long weekend we've all been treated to. 26 million of you gazed, slack-jawed at the Royal Wedding on Friday, had perfect weather all weekend, and woke up this morning to the news that they finally found that guy they've been trying to find for all that time in that place.
Not going to talk about that though, as – as far as I'm aware – he wasn't much of a musician. We – the music-adoring people that we are – are treated to a fair few quality releases this week. The highlight of them for most of us will be the new Beastie Boys album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. Other gems this week include new Fleet Foxes, Agnes Obel's Philharmonics (Glasswerk review by following the link) and a Franz Ferdinand covers EP entitled Covers EP. Get them at the music-dispensing source of your choice on my mark. MARK.
Glasswerk is a hive of activity this week – that's right, a hive – we've got competitions coming out of our eyeballs. Live right now are chances for you to win Dennis Locorriere (of Dr. Hook “When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman” fame) London tickets (link+), as well as a pair of tickets to the Bizarre Summer Ball (link), where bands are flanked with a guy who balances lawnmowers on his chin. Two similar events, then.
We've also got a pair of Wild Beasts tickets to give away for their sold-out London show on May 12th (link+), which is going to be one of the gigs of the year – I can feel it in my bones.
And as always, Glasswerk will be awash all week with the latest news, reviews, videos and new music you crave.
Happy May Day!
