Introducing: Monsters Build Mean Robots

We all love a bit of post-rock. It enthuses us with emotion. We at glasswerk.co.uk would like to draw your attention to Brighton-based band Monsters Build Mean Robots.

In my opinion; post-rock's stumbling block on the road to mainstream sustainability (one could argue that it's neither wanted nor needed) is its lack of accessibility. Live, post-rock can sometimes feel droll and never-ending, whilst the same artist on CD can feel uplifting and euphoric. I have a strong suspicion that Monsters Build Mean Robots' live show does not feel droll and never-ending.

Their latest release – WeShouldHaveDestroyedOurGeneralsNotTheirEnemies – ticks all the boxes in your post-rock tick sheet, however there's something more here. I've mentioned this phrase before; this band have a pop sensibility. Whilst you might cringe at the very word due to its connotations (Steps), I simply mean that whilst retaining its post-rock status, this release is extremely accessible. I can't imagine anyone struggling to become engorged in this release. It definitely doesn't require effort on the part of the listener.

So there you have it. Their release – with its name so long I shan't repeat it – is available through the independent label Nice Weather for Airstrikes, known for pushing euphoric, forward-thinking music. More information can be found by following this link.
