Colly Strings - Take A Good Look
Album Review

Colly Strings – Take A Good Look

‘Take A Good Look’ is the new single from Northern Ireland’s latest exciting export Colly Strings. Listening to the track it’s hard to believe that the band is only a year old. You expect a band so early in its career to be still finding its feet. A mishmash of influences and a hastily knocked together recording usually adding up to something reviewers politely call ‘a work in progress’. That’s not the case here. ‘Take A Good Look’ knows exactly what it is – a slick, confident slice of alternative rock. The stop-start staccato rhythm of the guitar lines closely resembles fellow Northern Irish rockers Two Door Cinema club whilst the anthemic chorus wouldn’t be out of place on the latest Foo Fighters record. In addition to the release of ‘Take A Good Look’ the band will be appearing at this year’s Sound City Festival in Liverpool alongside the likes of The View, The Kooks and Frank Turner. Colly Strings have certainly hit the ground running.
