Greetings!
I come in to today feeling rather lucky. There are many elements of the music industry that we take for granted – not on purpose in some bigoted fashion; we simply don't see a lot of the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Liverpool has been a busy old city in the past few days – Sound City ran from Thursday through to Sunday, with what felt like millions of incredible bands playing in pretty much every city centre venue Liverpool's got. There were some really well known names – the Frank Turners, F*cked Ups of this world, and some not so well known names – Said The Whale being my personal highlight of the event. Logistically, Sound City must have been a nightmare. A huge amount of congratulations to all the organisers.
Liverpool was also treated to Hub Festival this Saturday/Sunday – a day festival featuring pop-punk/alternative heavyweights The Blackout, Young Guns and Funeral For A Friend, amongst others. Again – a hugely impressive event that took some organising. A huge amount of thanks to all the people behind the scenes who slaved away to make the event great.
New releases this week that are grabbing collective attentions include Lady Gaga's new album Born This Way and singles from Jessie J, Korn feat. Skrillex and LMFAO's latest assault on the charts. It's going to be a good week!
