From 22 – 26 June, Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter is set to reverberate to the sound of folk, roots and traditional music as the Coors Light Open House Festival, explodes into life. This year’s Open House boasts a line-up of some of the biggest names in contemporary folk and roots music for what promises to be the event of the summer for music lovers across Northern Ireland.
This year’s Open House offers a whole weekend of all-day open air concerts at Custom House Square. The mighty Fleet Foxes, who have just gone top ten on both sides of the Atlantic headline the first ever Open House open-air summer extravaganza in their historic Northern Ireland performance. Brit Award Winner Laura Marling, leads the line for the second evening of outdoor entertainment at Custom House Square. Support comes from the cream of the folk-pop scene and includes Villagers and The Low Anthem.
Director Kieran Gilmore said he was thrilled at the programme assembled for the 13th Open House Festival: “We’ve moved Open House to the longest, brightest – and hopefully hottest – week of the year and we believe that acts such as Fleet Foxes will be just that little bit more special in the open-air and glorious sunshine of a June weekend. Huge acts such as Laura Marling are just the tip of a very large iceberg for us this year. There’s so much great music coming out of the 13th Open House that reflects the depth and breadth of a genre that never fails to excite. We’re looking forward to seeing festival fans, familiar and first timers alike, making their way down to Open House for a week to remember.”
