Ambitious plans have been unveiled to create a Scottish Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum and Hall of Fame to showcase the best homegrown talent and also to nurture future rock stars. And Scots stars Annie Lennox and Midge Ure have already given their written support to the project
Former DJ and STV presenter Ewan MacLeod has worked on the £6 million proposal for two years, and a £50,000 feasibility study compiled by leading Scottish architects Page and Park should be completed next month.
The project could be sited in Scotway House in Glasgow, the former planning office of the Clyde Port Authority. Public funders including Scottish Enterprise, Business Gateway, RSA, Creative Scotland, Historic Scotland and VisitScotland have all indicated support
If the venue gets the go-ahead it would be perfectly placed as a visitor attraction, sitting alongside the transport museum. Apart from the heritage and nostalgia aspect, the proposal also includes plans to showcase new and upcoming talent
