Isle of Wight surf-rockers The Shutes release their new single “Noah's” Ark” on limited-run 7″ vinyl on June 20th, and are celebrating the fact with a free download of their track “Silk Screen Shots” above right now.
The band grew up on the Isle of Wight and still live and record on the island, taking their name from a long, winding pathway known as 'the Shute' which runs down the cliff edge to the shore near their homes.
“The island very much informs our music,” says lead singer Michael Champion. “Living here, effectively isolated from the modern world (aside from the internet), plays a big part in what we do. We spend most of our evenings sat on cliff tops, listening to music and drinking red wine, looking out over the English channel, contemplating that once upon a time there was the Battle of Britain going on right where we’re looking.”
Having played sell-out shows across Europe and supported the likes of The Bees, The Go! Team, Alexander Ebert and Peter, Bjorn & John, The Shutes next play at the Bull and Gate in London on Tuesday 7 June.
