Le Mans Disc Details

Steve Mcqueen stars in  racing adventure LE MANS. The throttle, revving classic has been digitally re-mastered and is now available for the first time on Blu-ray Disc in honour of its 40th Anniversary on June 13 2011 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

The racing classic starring icon Steve McQueen (The Great Escape, Bullitt) features a breathtaking recreation of one of the toughest endurance tests on earth, France’s annual 24 Hours of Le Mans car race. Forty-five international racing stars join Steve McQueen in the 1971 Golden Globe® nominated* classic, highlighted by the slick engines of legendary Porsche 917s and Ferrari 512s.

Returning to France to compete a year after he’s been injured, American driver Michael Delaney (McQueen) finds himself drawn to the widow of a racer, who was killed in the same accident.  Filmed on location in France, the film’s spellbinding cinematography provides a dazzling look at the world’s most extraordinary cars and the unique personalities of the people drawn to the circuit.  McQueen, himself a championship racer, did most of his own driving on the harrowing 8.5 mile Le Mans course – often at speeds exceeding 200 miles per hour.

LE MANS is available to buy on Blu-ray & DVD on June 13 2011
