Wretch 32 aka Jermaine Scott has been announced as the face of Music Potential – a partnership between Choice FM and Barclaycard Unwind aimed at offering 16-25 year olds their first step toward a career in the music of radio industry.
Music Potential has already provided up to 900 young people – particularly those not in education or employment – with the chance to explore their talent through free workshops on music production, mixing, film making and vocal skills, with the 45 most talented youngsters set to receive an accredited qualification and six finalists enjoying a week's work experience at Choice FM.
The project culminates in an event at Wembley Arena on July 21st where Wretch 32 will take part in a Q&A session about his route into the business.
Wretch 32 said: “It’s great to get involved with I Have a Choice and Music Potential. It’s tough for kids growing up – so easy to make foolish choices. I’m behind anything that gives them a chance to achieve their dreams, get out of the situation they’re in. Where else can you go and try your hand at singing, MCing, producing or mixing and get training from professionals within the industry, all for free? I’ve come out the other side and the music industry is a paradise for me – hopefully this will give other kids the chance to experience that too”.
