London filmmakers really are persisting in casting former Eastenders stars in cheapie horror and ending up in the DTV bucket.
Director Jonathan Glendenning provided us last year with 13 Hrs which was NOT one of the highlights of FrightFest last year. Speaking of FrightFest, this film also features Barbara Nedeljekova who was also in last year’s Isle Of Dogs, also NOT one of the highlights of last year’s festival – despite the editor having a soft spot for the film.
But never say never – Strippers Vs Werewolves hardly sounds like they are taking themselves seriously, and the poster demonstrates that theory to the full. Let’s just hope the film is more fun than the cast probably had filming it.
Who is the sexy Ali Bastian (who plays stripper DANNI) pointing her shotgun at? Why none other than Martin Kemp (Eastenders) of course – who plays strip-club punter MICKEY – who just happens to be a werewolf.
Centred around VIXENS, a London strip-club, Strippers Vs Werewolves has an cast including Adele Silva, Billy Murray (Eastenders), Barbara Nedeljekova, Ali Bastian, Lucy Pinder, Martin Compston & Alan Ford. But there are some big names horror maniacs will appreciate more with Robert Englund, Sarah Douglas and Steven Berkoff. Not a Danny Dyer in sight!
If this one isn’t due out for a few months then we have a sneaky suspicion it may show up as a late night flick at this year’s FrightFest. We’ll find that out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime have a giggle at the poster.
