The Loud - Harris Shutter
Album Review

The Loud – Harris Shutter

The Loud hail from Liverpool – and much like other ‘Liverpudlian’ bands, these guys aim for nothing less than the top. They hope to tickle your fancy with their album ‘Harris Shutter’, due for release August 22nd this year.

The band themselves have been described as a garage band with a psychedelic twist, and fans can expect to hear something similar to artists such as T.Rex, Echo & The Bunnymen and The Yardbirds. The band have tried to carve out a unique blend of post modern noise that is intended to suit all.

With an album boasting just six songs – all clocking in at under four minutes – you’d be forgiven for underestimating this record.

The opening song ‘Amy’s Gonna Get You’ is already out on single and like most of my reviews I like to recommend a good starting point for people if they want to get into new bands, and this is no exception. The song has a garage/glam rock-like stomping feel that will get you pogoing around, a strong opening to the album.

‘Horror Scope’ and ‘A Little Taste of Home’ then follow and these two tracks will get the anthem lovers going, with a delivery of retchy guitar riffs and both a tender and sinister voice, these two are bound to tickle most listener’s fancy.

The most interesting track for me was ‘There’s A Bomb In The House’ (great name isn’t it!) – boasting a completely different feel to the rest of the album that creates an artistic and elegant noise.

It is also most touching that the final two songs ‘Avida Dollars’ and ‘Magic’ then show the band’s tender and proud side in that as I said before, these guys aren’t afraid to blend the music styles that they know and love. These two songs were a great fitting way to end the album. After a pumping start followed by a psychedelic escape, these two songs do justice in closing the album and helping but The Loud’s name on the map.
