British Sea Power are to release new single “Georgie Ray” on July 25th via digital download.
Released thanks to a new mix by Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Blur, Kylie Minogue) – the original version of the track appears on their current album Valhalla Dancehall.
Frontman Yan talks about the song's connection with writers George Orwell and Ray Bradbury: Sometimes, you end up thinking science fiction is all Star Trek and Buck Rogers, but great writers wrote sci-fi too. In this song George Orwell and Ray Bradbury are combined into one person. It’s a song that looks into the possibly doom-laden future of nowadays and optimistically hopes for something better.”
Accordingly, British Sea Power are to perform at the Jodrell Bank Observatory on July 2nd alongside The Flaming Lips. Peforminging under the most powerful radio telescope in the UK, they'll be joined live on stage by physicist/presenter Brian Cox.
You can also catch British Sea Power at this summer's Latitude Festival, Port Eliot Festival and Fuji Rocks, Japan.
