Marcus Foster – Rushes and Reeds
Marcus Foster has released his new single, Rushes & Reeds, through Communion/ Geffen Records. It is taken from his debut album, Nameless Path, which will be released in September.
Rushes and Reeds is a bluesy rock track that features a strident guitar and vocals with heavy reverb that have both power and finesse. Foster’s voice has that whisky soaked quality, giving an edge to his vocals. It was quite a surprise to find that he is only 24 as his voice sounds much older – in a good way.
A short guitar solo in the middle of the song provides an instrumental break before the vocals kick in once more. The song’s title is repeated several times towards the end of the track, which finishes rather suddenly. This is perhaps not a track that will get a great deal of mainstream radio play, but it deserves to be heard.
Foster is an accomplished sculptor was well as singer, guitarist and songwriter. He has written songs for films as well as working n his debut album. Clearly a talented guy then.
Rushes and Reeds shows in three minutes that his album will be one that fans of rock and blues will want to get a hold of.
