Brian Fallon's new project The Horrible Crowes have announced that their debut album Elsie is to be released on September 5th in the UK.
Most well-known as the frontman of Gaslight Anthem, he teams up with longtime friend Ian Perkins for his newest project.
The idea started at the end of 2010, when the two would jam together after Gaslight Anthem shows. Jams became writing sessions, which in-turn became recording sessions. The idea of Elsie was born.
Although technically a two-piece, the pair enlisted Steve Sidelnyk on drums and percussion, as well as the Parkington Sisters on strings and accordion, Ted Hutt on guitars and Adele Jensen on trumpet to record the album.
“What I’m doing here is so far removed from what the stuff we do in the Gaslight Anthem,” Fallon explains. “The one thing I wanted to stay away from here was doing an acoustic folk record or something that sounded like my other band. This is a completely different beast and it’s just another side of the music that’s shaped my identity.”
The most personal release of Fallon's career to date, he assures us that his heart is on his sleeve in the album. “There’s only one character here and it’s about me and three or four relationships that I’ve had throughout my life,” Fallon explains. “It’s really a trip through a breakdown and it catalogs this dissent into madness and finally redemption.
