Diafrix - Simple Man
Album Review

Diafrix – Simple Man

Australian duo, Diafrix seek the assistance of Mark Ronson’s protégé and former cocaine taking bad boy, Daniel Merriweather to promote a simple life, including enjoying the odd spliff from time to time, ‘Simple Man’. Many will see this as a step in the right direction for Merriweather.

Musically speaking, it doesn’t amount to much more than a bubble gum hip-hop/pop and light pop throwaway track. The occasionally trickling keys, soulful backing and chugging percussion lack any real cohesion. Merriweather’s contribution is a little forced, yet you get the impression that Diafrix will produce a stirring feel-good song with a simple message, soon. On this evidence though, they’re best going it alone.
