Liverpool's Jack Roberts announces single details and tour dates. New single Heart Attack will be released on hip new indie label Tip Top Recordings on 12th September and to celebrate Jack will be holding a FREE ENRTY single launch @ Liverpool's Heebie Jeebie's on Friday 16th September along with Tip Top Recordings label mates Royal Treatment Plant and Blue On Blue.
Jack Roberts has drawn comparison to heavyweights Tom Waits, Barry Adamson & Leonard Cohen with his growling vocals and powerful songwriting. Liverpool’s musical maverick is back with jaunty anthem 'Heart Attack' – the lead-single taken from his anticipated second studio album ‘The Romance, The Row & The Wreck’ due in winter 2011 on rising London indie label Tip Top Recordings.
Jack Roberts’ music combines filmic epics, raucous punk and a subtle folk and blues sound. Making his mark in the Merseyside band scene Jack Roberts signed to Sony to produce his debut 1994 LP ‘Longer On A Message’. The acclaimed album featured singles Radio, Taxi and Any Day Now – songs that proved hits at Jack’s Glastonbury appearance on the Acoustic Stage and led to tour support slots with the likes of Crash Test Dummies, Robyn Hitchcock, Jah Wobble, Tragically Hip, Jeff Healey, The Christians, Thomas Lang and Horse before playing The Royal Albert Hall and Echo Arena (where he performed the Beatles classic ‘Ticket to Ride’ to 10,000 people).
Having recently supported Nick Harper, Son Of Dave, Brute Chorus, Rachel Sage and Ruarri Joseph, Roberts is now known for his avant-garde performances with everything from a bicycle pump to a biscuit tin, his jail bird stripy tops and trademark gruff yet mammoth vocal range his comeback is finally on with his second full length solo record. The prowling emotive Heart Attack is the lead single with arresting piano beginnings and mournful trumpet suddenly lifting as vocals and violin kick a dark shanty to resuscitated life. Heart Attack – recently sound-tracking a Ricky Hatton documentary – is a blasting introduction to the upcoming album, which is built upon left field energy and dark curious storytelling full of the contradiction of wit and pain.
Royal Treatment Plant premieres their upcoming second album ‘Halfway To The Sun’ – follow-up to acclaimed avant-rock debut 'Hope is Not Enough'. The classically trained London-based five-piece, led by Australian singer/guitarist Paula Steel, shone at In The City, Camden Crawl and on bills with Marina & The Diamonds, Micachu, Young Knives & Los Camposinos! before signing to Universal for Australia in 2009 and now Tip Top. The new record beautifully showcases RTP’s intricate songwriting and special musicianship. In 2011 RTP performed at SXSW, has the title track to Channel 4's On Track and charted heavily at Amazing Radio before being chosen as their Artist of the Week.
Blue on Blue Release their feverishly awaited debut four-track EP on Tip Top this Autumn. London duo Blue On Blue has already supported the Charlatans on their recent UK Tour, as Tim Burgess’ favorite new band, and grabbed the attention of fans and critics with stripped down ethereal shoe-gaze and novel mind-bending beats. Dee Sada (An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump) and Billy Trivial bring dreamy daytime darkness and wide-eyed odes to all night parties.
Jack will also be appearing at London's Bull and Gate on Weds 14th September, Manchester Night and Day Cafe Sat 17th September & will be supporting Indiana's Reverend Peyton's Big Damm Band @ London's Cargo on 27th October.
