Well you know Christmas is on the approach when the re-jigged Billy Connolly stocking fillers start to appear on shelves. Added to this pile is this new release Billy Connolly: You Asked For It. This is essentially a clips DVD.
Running in chronological order the disc has 20 selected clips featuring favourite topics such as, Religion, Sex and dealing with lavatories on British Rail. The Billy and Albert stripped suit puts in an appearance and by the end we are up in modern day. But it doesn’t end there – There is also the bonus of Billy’s first TV performance recorded in 1976.
Connolly always makes for good cheer (There is probably a reason why he tops many “Best Stand-Up” lists), and if you don’t want to risk a hit or miss full performance (but even they are rare for Connolly) then this “Hits” disc could well be a decent night in.
The downside is that this is not the firstclip collection DVD for the comedian. There was a “Greatest Hits” DVD out some years ago which actually has some of the same clips here and runs longer. This new release perhaps has the advantage of having newer material on it as well.
Billy Connolly: You Asked For It is released on DVD from 14 November 2011.
