The Wombles Aim For Xmas Number One

Britain’s favourite eco-warriors, The Wombles, celebrate the release of their new single, ‘Wombling Merry Christmas’, with a photocall for media at HMV’s flagship Oxford Street store in London’s West End on Sunday 11th December 2011.

The Wombles will be at the shop’s entrance for the photocall at 12-noon, after which Orinoco, Great Uncle Bulgaria, Madame Cholet, Wellington and Bungo will pose for pictures with fans and customers.

‘Wombling Merry Christmas’ will go head-to-head with The X Factor for this year’s Christmas Number One. The chart stars will also be bringing ‘The W Factor’ to the festive season with the release of their greatest hits collection, a remastered compilation album of 20 Wombling greats including ‘Remember You’re A Womble’, ‘The Wombling Song’, ‘To Wimbledon With Love’, ‘Nashville Wombles’ and the much-loved ‘Minuetto Allegretto.’

The Wimbledon Common litter picking stars were a highlight of Glastonbury Festival this summer when the reunited band performed its first ever full-length concert.
