The Social Club - For Dancing

The Social Club – For Dancing

It’s not often that a band made up of members from cult local scenes ends up with a sound like this, but The Social Club (ex-Captain Everything, Fireapple Red, Wartgore Hellsnicker, The Remnants) have come back with a sound that should be taking the rock world by storm. Having said that, EP number 2 of a trio, the debut entitled For Drinking, the current For Dancing, is a treat to the ears, and has been accompanied with full page spreads in the biggest rock magazines!

For dancing is that perfect point of pop-rock, somewhere between Saves The Day, Hot Club de Paris and McFly, with something a bit more edgy and unproduced. For Dancing is so good, and seems perfectly created – you don’t want to stop listening after 5 tracks which is very clever – assuming that a longer EP or straight up album would have been full of filler aside from the great tracks released thus far.

The sound is quintessentially Alcopop! and that again is not a bad thing, with bands such as data.select.party and Johnny Foreigner on board. For Dancing is the soundtrack to summer 2012…if it ever arrives, or else the reminiscing in these winter months about those parts of 2011 you want to remember. Melody infused punk rock at its best; gang vocals, layered vocals, pianos and all sorts add to the Social Club quirkiness. Good job.
