Slam Dunk On Tour

Slam Dunk has announced their first ever sponsored tour, ‘Slam Dunk On Tour’. This will feature bands already confirmed acts Hit The Lights, The Story So Far and Decade, and we are pleased to announce Transit on both this tour as well as the festival. This tour will hit the road around the UK for 11 dates, including sets at both festival dates.

The tour, which has been put together by the Slam Dunk organisers, is sure to have pop punk fans up and down the country overwhelmed with excitement to see such a line-up on UK soil.

Tour headliners, Hit The Lights, have been a mainstay in the pop punk community for over 7 years now, creating a name for themselves with their catchy and hook laden brand of pop punk and sharing stages with bands such as New Found Glory and Set Your Goals. Staying in the limelight is something that could of befallen HTL after the loss of their original frontman, Colin Ross, just as the band started gaining momentum from their first full-length ‘This Is A Stick Up, Don’t Make It a Murder’. After some speculation on the bands future, then guitarist Nick Thompson stepped up to provide vocal duties and the band have never looked back. They wowed fans with their follow-up record, and Nick’s first on vocals, ‘Skip School, Start Fights’, having really honed their craft for catchy and memorable song writing. Brand new album ‘Invicta’ (out now on Razor & Tie) sees the bands’ sound mature as they take influences from the likes of Jimmy Eat World to create euphoric, uplifting songs while maintaining their key sound. Catch the band premiering new material for the first time in the UK, along with old favourites on the tour.

US pop punkers Transit broke the mould with latest album ‘Listen & Forgive’ that was released in late 2011 through Rise Records. This, their third full-length effort stunned critics and fans alike, providing a much matured and varying edge to what can be a stale genre. But do not be fooled, even though this new album produced a calmer, more considered sound than the band’s second full-length ‘Keep This To Yourself’, Transit never lost any energy in their live show, continuing to storm stages and add extra vigour to the new tracks when played live.

The Story So Far recently finished their first ever UK tour, supporting Man Overboard back in January with a rapturous response from British fans. Having released their debut album on Pure Noise Records last year ‘Under Dirt & Soil’ is a perfect amalgamation of pop punk and the hardcore roots it came from. Their live performance lives up to the energy and ferocity on the release, and this is what earned TSSF such high acclaim on their first tour and why we had to have them back.

Slam Dunk Record’s own Decade round out the tour with some fresh home-grown talent. Having recently completed their first UK headline tour and just put out their new self-titled EP, Decade are on the up and up. Having spent the last 5 months doing nothing but rehearsing, the Decade live performance really is something not to be missed as they tear through an energetic set filled with heartfelt lyrics and carefully crafted guitar work.

Slam Dunk Festival is also pleased to announce the addition of Zebrahead on Slam Dunk Festival South. Unfortunately the band are already confirmed on a Festival in Germany on the day of Slam Dunk Festival North, but when the masters of ska infused pop punk offered to play in Hatfield we couldn’t turn our good friends down!
