Summer Sundae Line Up Announcement

Summer Sundae Weekender are delighted to announce the third wave of artists on 2012’s line up, establishing the event once again an essential date in the summer music calendar.

Soul sensation Lianne La Havas took the country by storm in 2011 with her stand out performance on Jools Holland and the release of her acclaimed debut EP “Lost and Found.” She has since proved herself to be one of the most captivating new acts around and a musical talent to be reckoned with. The incredible Patrick Wolf is pop music’s true maverick. An eccentric and creative outsider, he celebrates otherness by bringing his sensibilities to the stage and embracing the twists and turns of an extraordinary life. New Zealand reggae-funk heavyweights The Black Seeds are renowned globally for their legendary 8-piece live shows. Frequently setting dance floors alight with their unique blend of reggae, funk, soul, jazz and dub it is unsurprising that The Black Seeds have acquired a reputation for being one of the best reggae bands on the planet. Originally member of a Grime collective, Mercury Award nominee Ghostpoet has won over the nation with his off-kilter, hook laden productions. Ditching the aggressive energy of the Grime M.C for the softly spoken, sleepy flow of the poet he engages audiences with his languid beats and meandering musings on London life. The incomparable one-man band that is Lewis Floyd Henry spent his formative years as a graffiti artist before applying his musical talent to the streets. Having honed his performing skills on the toughest stage of them all – the street – Henry is equipped to win over anyone, taking to the stage with flair and intensity. Norwegian six-piece indie band Team Me have captivated the world with their rich orchestrated music and unique live shows. Their 2011 debut album “To The Treetops!” invoked massive international response and was widely accredited for being one of the best debuts ever made by a Norwegian band. The infectious indie-pop of Nottingham quintet Dog is Dead has secured the band extensive radio play as well as a place on tour with Bombay Bicycle Club. 2011 was a massive year for these breezy indie rockers and with their debut album in the pipeline as well as their Summer Sundae appearance 2012 is going to be even bigger!

Joining the Drowned in Sound bill on the De Montfort Hall Indoor Stage are Gold Panda and Stay+. Firmly at the forefront of a new wave of artists Gold Panda is unafraid to challenge preconceptions of what music can be. Whether mixing dissected Hip Hop beats or the pulsating flourishes of Minimal Techno he is always traversing genre boundaries in search of new auditory frontiers. Ambient electronic outfit Stay+ have existed somewhat intangibly since their conception. Their controlled production method displays distinct allusion to the work ethos of David Lynch and Kraftwerk who they count amongst their influences.
