Counting Birds is the haunting, visionary new single and video from synth-pop quartet Wave Machines.
Wave Machines 2009's cult album ‘Wave If You're Really There’ lead to acclaimed live shows with Flaming Lips and Roxy Music, a string of radio airplay and sessions on 6Music, Radio 1 and XFM, as well as a spectacular run of sell-out headliners at Shoreditch Church.
This long awaited follow-up reveals a band with a darker, more nuanced vision for their lush disco-hook sound. Simultaneously intimate and epic, haunting and direct, Counting Birds is a Ghost Town for an electronic era, pointing towards what will be a massive return-to-the-fray of one of the most promising acts of the last few years.
Counting Birds is accompanied by a video from Wave Machines' long-time art-director Scott Spencer and producer Token Films, with a startling new take on the glitch/data-mosh trope, drawing out the psychedelic, twisted intimacy of the track.
