Sankeys Ibiza Opening Fiesta News

After a sublime first season in Ibiza which saw Sankeys become the toast of the island’s underground scene, the club is back this summer with an even bigger agenda to further consolidate their success on the White Isle. They have just released info for their opening week of parties which commences on Thursday 24th May, a gargantuan session with guests including Solomun, Tiefschwarz, Guti LIVE, Tobi Neumann, David August, Stimming LIVE and many more, followed by Friday 25th’s Bugged Out! session with Basement Jaxx (DJ set), Booka Shade (DJ set), Joy Orbison, Jackmaster, Mosca, Bones and many more. This is more that just a statement of intent; Sankeys Ibiza are seriously upping their profile with a full season’s worth of amazing live shows and DJs, seeking to not only build on the success of 2011 but quite simply blow it clean out of the water.

Saturday 26th sees Mulletover commence at Sankeys with guests TBC, and after a two-day break, the club rounds off its opening brace with Enzo Siragusa and friends at Fuse on Tuesday 29th May and there’s a pulsating show to savour on Wednesday 30th with DJ T, Heidi, Matt Tolfrey, Anja Schneider, Sebo K, Wildkats, Alexis Raphael, Krankbrothers and more.

In realising one of his longest-held ambitions, Sankeys’ director David Vincent brought the globally famed club’s ethos from Manchester to the White Isle to great acclaim. The island’s newest new club quickly became the in-vogue epicentre of the underground in 2011, an aim which will be further developed this summer. David says, “I was recently asked how I see our second season in Ibiza, and answered ‘we’re taking no prisoners!’ It's there for all to see we are really upping everything about Sankeys Ibiza, and there are some brilliant names lined up for our season. Everything we’re doing is informed by the club back in Manchester – it’s the same spirit of consistently booking the best underground names and showcasing some great new talent, alongside established stars who understand what Sankeys is about. I’m so excited to be going back and unleashing what we have in store for everyone!”

Sankeys Ibiza has already booked over 100 parties from the leading lights of electronica. It’s a who’s who roster of immense talent sourced from the finest house and techno exponents, including London’s seminal weekly Sunday session Fuse, the iconic Steve Lawler and his VIVA imprint, Solomun’s revered Diynamic imprint, the island firebrands Monza and in-house session Carnival, who claim to have booked an impressive 90 different artists for the new Saturday session.

Bugged Out!’s Johnno says of their opening party, “Bugged Out can't wait to host parties at the new Sankeys in Ibiza. The club night started at Sankeys back in 1994 so we it's always been a spiritual home for us, and I imagine they'll have more sun in Playa d'en Bossa than Ancoats! We're working with both legendary acts and rising stars on our dates and we're super keen to reveal our line ups.”

Enzo from Fuse says that, “”I'm very much looking forward to our Sankeys Ibiza return this year. The Fuse residents and I are working hard in the studio making music for this summer and we can't wait to be let loose on that amazing sound system!”
