Severin – Everything Breaks EP

I can think of very few bands in recent memory that have presented themselves to me that are as perfect as Severin, from the very first beat of this debut EP I was hooked by their dark, playful sound, pushing all the right buttons in terms of production, providing a compelling listen that I simply can’t get enough of.

The tone is industrial and cold, a blend of the rattle and hum of mesmerising electronica expertly blended with haunting vocals, but the multi-layered depths of each song present a band that is far more than just a bunch of casio pre-sets and new-wave nuances, yes, it is true that Severin certainly fill a very specific underground niche, yet when the music connects with someone in the way that it has connected with me then it is possible that those people will have found a brand new band that they will cling faithfully to.

In just four tracks, Severin have captured my attention with a bag of tricks that bleeps and pulses, and words can’t fully explain the intense palpitations that their music causes within me with every repeated listen. Perhaps it is bad practise to gush over a band, but I would much rather give them my whole-hearted seal of approval and hope others take my word for it than just try and dissect their music for casual observers.

You see, they haven’t just captured my attention, they have also captured my heart.
