Soul Circus – Burn The Map

With their anthemic and memorable songs Soul Circus have managed to lodge their infectious choruses in to the minds and hearts of music fans up and down the country, following festival appearances at Reading, Leeds and Isle Of Wight amongst others in the last 18 months.

The five piece indie rock band has a live set packed full of epic anthems thrown together with an impressive mix of energy and swagger. On record they have drawn comparisons with The Killers, Editors and Doves, producing catchy and well crafted pop mixed in with the majesty and size of a U2 or Coldplay.

On the back of supporting the likes of Miles Kane and Various Cruelties, their performances captured the attention of the Live At Leeds Festival promoters who have added them to the bill with bands such as The Enemy, Los Campesinos! and The Subways.

Soul Circus’ double A side ‘Burn The Map’ and ‘The Consequence Of Youth’ comprise of messages that are sombre and honest, both have a common obsession and a feeling of uneasiness with the passing of time. Shared themes include regret from the past, dissatisfaction with the present, and fears for the future. There is, however, a sense of optimism that runs through both songs not only lyrically but musically, that everything happens for a reason and in the end we should just let go.

‘Burn The Map’ was produced by Whiskas (formerly of Forward Russia); ‘The Consequence Of Youth’ was recorded with Mark Ellis at Propagation House, Devon (The Subways, The View).

The band seek to be creative with how they release their music: 'Burn The Map/ The Consequence Of Youth' will be available as a two CD package with a “pass it on” concept – fans will be encouraged to keep one CD and give the other to a friend, and continuing the 'double' theme each package will come with a “Double Dip” for the sweet-toothed music fan. The artwork for last year's debut single ‘The Myth’ was split over 100 unique CD sleeves which formed the full image when placed together, and Christmas single 'Picture Frames' was released as a pay-what-you-want download with all proceeds going to local homeless charity St Georges Crypt.

With the release of ‘Burn The Map/ The Consequence Of Youth’ (out on 14th May) and an EP to follow in September, Soul Circus have their sights set as the British rock band ready to break out in 2012.
