Dot To Dot 2012 Preview

Dot To Dot returns in June with its unique take on the urban festival. With over 40 acts spread across 16 venues and three cities over three days, 2012 is shaping up to be the best year yet.

The big headliners this year are New York indie popsters The Drums. They’ll have to work hard to surpass Hurts’ astonishing headline performances from last year but with huge crowd pleasers like Best Friend and Let’s Go Surfing in their arsenal it promises to be one hell of a set.

Those who prefer something a little grittier from their inner city festivals will be delighted to see the inclusion of Pulled Apart by Horses. Their inimitable brand of face-melting post hardcore threatens to steal the show (or blow the speakers) on any stage.

As always with Dot To Dot the most intriguing thing about the festival is not the headlining acts, (impressive though they are this year) it’s the undiscovered gems you find scattered around the many venues throughout the day. Last year it was the dreamy vocal of Benjamin Francis Leftwhich that stayed with us long after the dry ice and hangovers had cleared. This year is no exception, and whilst Hooray for Earth, Neon Indian and Wavves are all unmissable, Glasswerks tip for 2012 goes to Warickshire based songstress Lucy Rose. Having contributed backing vocals to Bombay Bicycle Clubs latest album A Different Kind Of Fix this year she’s embarking on her own headlining tour as well as taking in Dot To Dot in Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester.
