Aussie pop-rock titans Passion Pit have unveiled the video for their new single “Take A Walk”. Not for sufferers of vertigo, the video was shot in Philadelphia last month using first-of-its-kind helicam technology.
Inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s animated short “Jumping,” David Wilson expressed his interest in capturing a live version of the film’s bouncing animation with a helicam. Passion Pit’s “Take A Walk” was a natural fit, as Wilson immediately connected with the rhythm of the music. As Wilson explains, “it was the desire to echo the seamless rhythm in the song with the camera bounce that drew me to this bespoke helicam capable of creating such a smooth bounce.” With the support of The Creators Project, a global initiative dedicated to supporting artists in realizing their creative visions through technology, David Wilson and Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit tackled the challenge of conceptualizing a narrative based on the song’s lyrics and the capability of the helicam’s tailored movements.
Passion Pit’s new album ‘Gossamer’ will be released on 23rd July.
