VIDEO: MIKHAEL PASKALEV – 'JIVE BABE'

Mikhael Paskalev’s ‘Jive Babe’ is the second single from Mikhael’s forthcoming solo album due to be released in Norway in late September.

Produced and mixed by guitarist and collaborator, Joe Wills, in an abandoned primary school gym in Liverpool. ‘Jive Babe’ shows a raucous, bastardised punk and soul side to the award winning Norwegian songwriter. Wills' distinct production style and raw mix aesthetics compliment the track perfectly.

His previous single ‘I Spy’ attracted the attention of blogs and tastemakers across the U.K. and U.S. The accompanying video, which shows Mikhael dancing in his pants and crooning into a lampstand, quickly received over half a million hits, with the Huffington Post (U.S.) dedicating an article on their website to it.

Following this viral success, ‘Jive Babe’ is also accompanied by a music video, directed by Liverpool filmmaker, Jack Whitely. In somewhat of a nod to low budget foreign cinematography, this time we see Mikhael locked in an old car boot by a mysterious femme fatale and driven around a peculiar town in rural Bulgaria where his father was born and raised.

Although already a success back in his native Norway, Mikhael is relatively unknown elsewhere. With the release of ‘Jive Babe’ and its pairing with a visually stunning, Tarantino inspired video, that is set to change.

RELEASED ON 22nd JUNE 2012 ON PRETTY BOY FLOYD / UNIVERSAL NORWAY
