London-based artist Liz Lawrence is one of those rare young artists who is both a mesmerising performer and a very talented songwriter. Still only 21, her publishing has been snapped up by Sony/ATV and a 3 track live EP ‘Live at No. 82′ has just been released on the Young & Lost label. Releases earlier this year in Ireland resulted in playlisting on RTE 2, multiple plays and live sessions across Irish radio and two Irish tours.
Combine her great voice, her instantly memorable songs and her feisty attitude and you have a very compelling and honest artist. Her teenage years spent in punk and ska bands may not be obvious on first impressions but as soon as she opens her mouth, you’re in no doubt that she’s fully in control and that she’s headed for big things. Her rapidly growing live and online audiences are testament to the excitement building around her as ‘one to watch’.
Constantly gigging, both solo and with a small band, Liz has supported The Civil Wars, Scouting for Girls, Xavier Rudd, Ben Howard, Brooke Fraser, Young the Giant, Yoav, Jake Morley and one of her idols, Ani Difranco, who describes Liz as “a beautiful artist who lives on the edge”.
