St. Spirit – London

St. Spirit ('Build A Life' single launch)
plus: Buzzards
Tuesday 21st August
Bedroom Bar, London EC2A 3AY

‘Build A Life’ was the original demo released online by South London post-rock band St. Spirit in September 2011. Here the band gives away a completely re-recorded and re-mixed version of the song, which has been engineered by the world-renowned Adrian Bushby.

Available as a free download from the bands’ website on the 20th of August, ‘Build A Life’ is released with a fully animated story of life and death which is epically beautiful & disturbing – and is available for viewing on their web site link

‘Build A Life’ follows the release of their debut EP ‘Pigeon’ and their most recent free download a month earlier of ‘Road At The Rise’ which was described by Mary Ann Hobbs of XFM as “extraordinarily beautiful” and was her “Game Changer” for a week.

Myles McCabe explains: We wanted to put some music out quickly and for free as a thanks for all the support we have been receiving. ‘Build a life’ is about human reproductive processes, the proliferation and evolution of humanity in relation to modern contraceptive procedures and self-destructive human behaviors.

Support come from Buzzards. Until recently Buzzards only existed behind closed doors. Recording an album of lo-fi leaning darkness cloaked in their favourite elements of nineties indie rock. Bridging the gap between his folkpop solo albums and the noisy alt. rock of Wayter, Eddie Halliday’s new project was an experiment in home recording an imaginary band. The strong melodies of the song writing, now mixed with layers of distorted acoustic guitars, coming across like a Teenage Fanclub / Sebadoh love child. The bands first single was a Limited record store day 7″ (now sold out) featuring 'Creamer' on Hilldrop Records, released as a split with Nicholas Stevenson. Their next single is a split 7″ with Swedish Alt-pop outfit Steel Island, out in October. link
