Sensorites – Fool

Fool is the new single from Merseyside four piece band Sensorites, and it’s a pretty good indie pop song. It has that Mersey feel, melodic and confident with just a hint of humour to it. But the lyrical delivery is not typically Liverpudlian and that gives it a different take on the classic sound.

Sensorites was founded by brothers Natham and Gareth Kirkham when they moved to Liverpool. They were joined by Ash Michael (drums) and Kurt Riley (guitar/ vocals) who they met whilst touring as a duo. They are young and talented and clearly have the knack of using local influences while adding their own stamp to create something entertaining.

Fool is a pleasant pop song with simple lyrics: “I’d be a fool to let you go/ I’m a fool, don’t you know?” The jaunty vocals are backed by acoustic guitar and a rhythmic percussion sound that runs right through the track. A short guitar solo creeps between the verses to add a punch too. It’s catchy, the type of song that you find yourself singing after hearing it a couple of times.

The single comes with three additional tracks: a remix which adds some fine instrumentation including strings and a xylophone, a nice fully instrumental version and then an a capello take that is rather lovely and features clean and sharp vocals.
