Travis drummer Neil Primrose helped drive Team Toyota GB to success at the world famous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit last weekend. The Man Who’s band have won 2 Brit Awards took his turn at the wheel in the Britcar 24 Hour race on 23rd September, securing 8th place overall, and 3rd in the production car class.
Racing in a Toyota GT86, Primrose was joined by Chris Hodgetts, his son Stefan andjournalist Richard Meaden. Each driver took several stints at the wheel during the 24 hour race, with Neil performing consistently through the difficult nighttime period of the race.
Neil is an accomplished driver with a large amount of endurance racing experience, including Le Mans Classic sports car series & the Nürburgring 24 Hours race.
The Britcar Toyota GT86, was powered by the standard 16-valve double overhead cam horizontally opposed ‘boxer’ engine of the road-going model, delivering 197bhp. GPRM now plans to develop a more powerful version for customers looking to buy track Toyotas of their own.
