Those dark noise destroyers from Leeds, Black Moth, have been causing a bit of a stir with their debut album ‘The Killing Jar’. Most recently they laid waste to the BBC Introducing stage at Leeds and Reading Festival following the announcement that they’d be hitting the road as support on Turbowolf’s upcoming October UK tour. Having brought to life some mighty beasts of songs within the maelstrom of the new heavy Leeds scene, which is delivering us Pulled Apart By Horses, Hawk Eyes, Blacklisters, Castrovalva, Gentlemens Pistols amongst many others, Black Moth have been rippin’ ‘em up live not only in their home town, but everywhere they’ve played. If you like your music heavy, then this is the band for you.

The band’s influences are obviously there in their sound. Think Proto Metal, Stoner Rock, a healthy slice of Black Sabbath, several shades of Punk, and a big dollop of Doom. The riffs are crushing, the sound is huge and it’s all knitted together by Harriet Bevan’s formidable vocals, yes we’re talking Heavy Rock of the highest order here. But what’s truly startling is how the band take all the music that they obviously love and turn it into something that is truly their own, new and heavy. Make no mistake though, these are not just a collection of riffs, but great songs too. Prime rock nuggets with a razorblade at the core.
