Three years ago A Band Called Quinn recorded an album called Red Light Means Go. Before they had a chance to release it they were asked to appear in Vanishing Point Theatre Company’s stage production of The Beggar’s Opera. The album is now due for release at the end of November via Tromolo Records.
In the meantime tracks from Red Light Means Go appeared in Carter Ferguson’s BAFTA award winning film Fast Romance, BBC 3 Drama Lip Service & French artist & producer Kid Loco remixed one of the tracks Oh Jackie into a Serge Gainsbourg style duet which has since, with the support of Creative Scotland, been made into a short film which was shortlisted for this year’s Van d’or Awards. The track was released as a single and featured on 6 Music, Radio 1 Scotland and Dave Gorman’s Absolute Radio show. BBC Scotland’s Janice Forsyth made it Single of the Month.
This November sees the ‘official’ release of the album to coincide with a bold new multimedia performance from the band in Biding Time (remix) at The Arches as well as support slots with British Ska legends The Beat.
