Cumbria-based Colt 45 are preparing to climb the next rung of the rock and roll ladder, having built up a loyal following after relentlessly touring the UK club and festival circuit. The band’s new EP, Inside The Triangle, was crafted with legendary rock producer Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses, The Blackout, Twin Atlantic, Motorhead, Glassjaw, Manics…) at the helm at his Longwave Studios in Cardiff. It will be released on 12th November and focuses on good storytelling through melodic punk rock.
This second EP builds further on the sound that was established with Colt 45’s debut, 2011’s Chasing Yesterday, which also saw Romesh behind the dials and which you can download for free at link. Since its release the band have racked up over 200 shows all across the UK and show no sign of letting up any time soon.
Commenting on Inside The Triangle’s content, drummer Adam says – “Lead track ‘Happiness Is A Dying Art’ is a pop-tastic tale of lost friends, reminiscing, and self analysis, but it’s impossible not to smile when you hear it! Our most immediate track on this EP, ‘Everybody Will Let You Down,’ offers three minutes of fists-in-the-air punk rock, and a tasty breakdown for good measure. The slower ‘I’m Drowning, Not Waving’ nods toward a more melodic side of our sound, and gives the harmonies room to shine. Final track ‘Brick Wall’ is our ode to some favourite hard rocking big riffing artists – Nirvana, Rise Against, Fugazi, Hot Water Music. You get the picture.”
Colt 45 in a live setting presents a different prospect altogether, as their dynamic and energetic set is always showcased with heart and passion; the three-pronged aural attack as brutally rocking as it is melodic and catchy. Influenced in equal parts by small-town frustration and a shared love of alternative rock music (think Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, Gang Of Four, Manic Street Preachers, Million Dead, Broadway Calls, Brand New, Fugazi, At The Drive-In, Menzingers, Murder By Death, Hot Water Music, Biffy Clyro…), the three Cumbrians are on a mission to make it to the same stages as their elders.
Sharing bills throughout the last 12 months with the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Gallows, The Computers, Lower Than Atlantis, UK Subs, The Subways, The Damned, Young Guns, Francesqa, Buzzcocks, Twisted Wheel, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Crave & The Futureheads, Colt 45 have the sound, performance and personality to win over fans of all sorts of guitar music, and remain true purveyors of substance over style whilst doing so. The band will be touring tirelessly in support of the EP so make sure you catch their effervescent live set when you can.
