Huey And The New Yorkers (Huey Morgan – Fun Lovin’ Criminals/ 6 Music / Radio 2) celebrate the release of their debut album “Say It To My Face” by putting up a cover song on You Tube every night this week.
The list of Huey’s covers can be watched here accompanied by some great New York video footage link starting tonight at 6pm with a great rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright”. Huey explains, “This Dylan track was written in ‘62 and though it’s been covered by a lot of other artists I had to cover it myself. It’s the best break-up song I’ve ever heard. To the point, with bitterness and humor side by side.”
Covers by Huey and the New Yorkers the rest of the week will go live at 6pm on his You Tube channel and include:
Tuesday – ‘Guns On The Roof’ by The Clash
Wednesday – ‘Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo’ (Heartbreaker) by The Rolling Stones
Thursday – ‘Draggin’ The Line’ by Tommy James and The Shondells
Friday – ‘My Funny Valentine’ by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart
Huey’s new album is out in all good stores from today and Huey and the New Yorkers play their first UK show on November 7th at Bush Hall, London. Huey is giving all proceeds of the album sales to a selection of his favourite War Veterans charities. Huey was a US marine from the age of 17, so as he says, “Even if you don’t like the record, you’ll be doing something good for all the soldiers that are out there fighting to keep us safe. The CD makes a great coaster too as it’s a picture of me taken by the amazing photographer Danny Clinch.”
The covers featured are also available to buy on ‘The After Hours EP’ (CD), exclusively from Townsends Records here: link or you can download as part of the iTunes Deluxe Edition of the debut album ‘Say It To My Face’ here: link
