Hotly tipped Melbourne sensations Texture Like Sun return with “One Great Prize.” The lead track from upcoming their November 2nd self-titled EP, “One Great Prize” offers you an intriguing take on folk, carried by the multi-emotive vocal of front man Mark Pearl. Blessed with a vocal that can veer effortlessly between warmth and fierce intensity, Pearl wowed far and wide with “Bottle” last year and does so again with this breathtakingly beautiful and sensitive new track.
The earthy vocals may draw ghostly parallels to Jeff Buckley and Scott Matthews, while there’s a certain zealousness that sees the band paint their folk and roots stylings through accounts of both brighter times and others of fragile refrain. The accompanying video perfectly compliments track wonderfully as Pearl’s floating vocal soundtracks a tough period in a man’s life. You can see the video below.
Despite their relative infancy as a band, Texture Like Sun have been compared to both Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. With their anticipated EP only days away, we’re fully expecting a new heavyweight arrival in the folk arena.
