When Katie Melua started recording her fifth studio album, ‘Secret Symphony’, her aim was to find a collection of beautiful songs written by other artists and to record them with an orchestra in her own unique style. Despite initially having no plans to write any new material for the album one song “just wrote itself. It represents where I was at that moment”. That song, ‘Forgetting All My Troubles’, describes how love can shine light onto a dark place, can thaw a frozen heart, can reveal a future of hope.
A beautiful love song that will resonate with her many fans, ‘Forgetting All My Troubles’ is a highlight of ‘Secret Symphony’ and is the perfect showcase for her “soft lustrous vocals” (The Independent). A Special Bonus Edition of ‘Secret Symphony’ is being released on October 29th. The deluxe package includes four bonus tracks – songs made famous by Randy Newman (‘Feels Like Home’), Elvis Presley (‘Love Me Tender’), Roy Orbison (‘It’s Over’) and Bonnie Raitt (‘Too Long At The Fair’).
This collection also includes a second CD of live tracks recorded in Berlin in July with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg. In addition to the live recordings of a selection of tracks from ‘Secret Symphony’, the 21 track CD features songs from Katie’s nine year career including ‘Nine Million Bicycles’, ‘The Flood’ and her first hit single ‘The Closest Thing To Crazy’.
Katie is currently on an extensive European tour which started with a run of UK dates that have received some of the best reviews of her career.
