The Flat and Paper Sky Vol. II will be released on the 3rd of December, with the launch on Tuesday 4th at the Bull and Gate. You can listen to the entire EP right here.
Volume I of the EP was backed by Radio 2, which helped the band get coverage in niche print areas such as Maverick and Rock n Reel, as well as hitting ‘Single of the Week’ on The 405. Ian Parker, the reviews editor of For Folk Sake called it “a truly exciting debut from a band who should go far.”
Here on Glasswerk we said, “Volume 1 of The Flat And Paper Sky is a fine collection of songs delivered with real panache. The vocals are outstanding throughout and the musical backing is superb.”
Volume II shows the band progressing quickly and refusing to be pigeonholed into any single genre. Within the four tracks of this EP, there’s a huge range of musical ideas with lead vocals that passionately rage but are then softened by close harmony, with lush arrangements from which distorted electric guitar solos emerge.
The recent success of acts like Villagers, Dog is Dead, and Lucy Rose shows the appeal of songwriting that combines astute, intelligent lyric writing with music that is eclectic and relevant. Though the reviews for the first EP were highly positive, Feldspar immediately wanted to go further with this release adding grit and caustic wit to their polished alt-folk sound.
