We Are The Physics To Play New Album In Full

We Are The Physics have announced they are to play their new album, Your Friend, The Atom, in full at a one-off gig in Glasgow on 1st December.

The band’s second record, and follow-up to their 2008 debut We Are The Physics Are OK At Music was released on 22nd October, and features the singles Goran Ivanisevic, Applied Robotics and Napoleon Loves Josephine.

Vocalist Michael M explains the decision to put on the gig below:

“After our last tour, the people who didn’t want to strangle us for our new record complained that we didn’t play some of their favourites from it. After explaining that we couldn’t actually play them, we thought we owed it to them to learn our own songs and play all of them from the new record in one go, as well as a couple of surprises at this one-off gig. We’ll never do this again until our reunion tour in 2035.”

In addition to this, the band will play regular sets in Edinburgh and London the following week.

We Are The Physics formed in Glasgow in 2005, taking influences from bands such as Devo, Ex Models, Cardiacs, The Skids, Servotron, Brainiac and Buddy Holly.

Known for their eccentric and frenetic stage shows, their nerd rock b-movie aesthetic has taken them around the world several times, sharing tours and Irn Bru with acts including Polysics, Art Brut, Franz Ferdinand, 30 Seconds To Mars and Sigue Sigue Sputnik, as well as playing major roles at UK and European festivals, including the NME/Radio 1 Stage at T In The Park.

2013 will see them starring in God Help The Girl, the feature film written and directed by Belle & Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch. In the meantime, they’ll be making a lot of noise, very fast, somewhere near you.

Live dates:

01 December – Glasgow Maggie May (Your Friend, The Atom album show)
07 December – Edinburgh Voodoo Rooms
08 December – London Buffalo Bar
