VIDEO: My First Tooth – Past Broadcasts

My First Tooth return with ‘Love Makes Monsters’, the follow up to their debut album ‘Territories’ which garnered considerable praise from critics, including The Word who described it as “A full-on blast of raucous folk-pop that’s all hoedown and no slowdown”, and The Fly who called it “…seriously impressive…”. Their first offering from the new record is a free single “Past Broadcasts” out December 3rd, 2012 on Alcopop! Records.

The recording took them from Berlin to Bridlington, via London and saw them working with producers James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses/Dry The River), Peter Abbott (Athlete/Misty’s Big Adventure) and Paul Pilot (Duke Special/’Territories’).

Thematically picking up where the first record left off, frontman Ross K Witt continues to sing about animals and ships but additionally picks over broken relationships and hints at an almost crushing sense of nostalgia, as exemplified by lead-off single ‘Past Broadcasts’. Sonically, the band (completed by Sophie Galpin, Jo Collis and Gareth Amwel Jones) expands on the folk-pop/alt-country blueprint of their debut, with the new LP finding the band in a more hard-edged, energetic form, playing as if their lives depend on it. They just might.

The band have made themselves a firm fixture of the UK festival circuit with appearances at Glastonbury, Summer Sundae, Bestival, Truck, 2000 Trees, The Great Escape, SWN and more since the release of their debut. Outside of these, a relentless touring campaign post-’Territories’ has seen them hone their frenzied, harmony-laden, instrument-swapping live appearances into a barnstorming show that NME described as “unmissable”.
