VIDEO: Crazy Arm – Bandalito

Devon roots-punks Crazy Arm have released a new single, ‘Bandalito’, digitally through Xtra Mile Recordings. Culled from their second album, ‘Union City Breath’, the song is a speedy, kinetic punk rock banger that, in a rare moment of brevity for the band, clocks in at under three minutes. The title is meaningless although its vague allusion to the magnificent spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone hasn’t gone unnoticed. Lyrically, the song deals with loneliness, temptation, torment and acceptance, but not necessarily in that order. The exclusive download/video version comes with roaring Hammond organ courtesy of Patrick James Pearson.

The first b-side, ‘All Butchers Are Men’, is one of the band’s earliest songs: a pro-feminist missive that balks at outdated symbols of male identity with a nod to the melodic nous of Ted Leo. The song first made an appearance recently on the 7″ vinyl version of ‘Little Boats’ (available via Household Name Records). The second b-side, ‘Fossils’, is a brand new acoustic song featuring Vicky Butterfield on vocals and Darren Johns on vocals, guitars and banjo: an Americana-infused paean to old-fashioned values that still hold water.

Crazy Arm are currently working on an acoustic-based album for release this winter (working titled ‘Middle Sessions Volume 1: Remembrance’), which will feature mainly brand new material written specifically for the acoustic setting. They intend to do an acoustic tour around its release. The band will begin work on their third rock album in early 2013.
