Nebraskan Eli Mardock was the creative force behind much hyped and blogged 00’s US indie outfit Eagull Seagull. Signing to a major label, only for the label to close just 4 weeks after sealing the deal, it took 2 years of legal battles before the album finally saw the light of day. Unsurprisingly Eagull Seagull split not long after the release of ‘The Year Of The How-To Book’.
Two years on and Eli is building up to the release of his debut album, mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes), with 2 EP releases: NE Sorrow Is Born in 2012, which will be followed by a second EP in early 2013.
Check out the video for Cut Me Open here which showcases Eli’s knack for calypso tinged, lo-fi, sunshine indie – imagine Lou Reed without the heroin addiction kicking back on a beach sipping a pina colada and writing jams and you’re on the right track.
“NE Sorrow Is Born” released: December 3rd 2012
