Over the holidays I had a link to a video sent to me. And a very good video it is too – see for yourself. It comes from young Lincolnshire rockers Skarlett Riot and marks them out as a powerful band with just a touch of subtlety too.
Born in the summer of 2010 in North Lincolnshire, Skarlett Riot are a brazen four-piece female fronted Hard rock unit who deliver melody and grit, fused with the muscular garage rock’n’roll. Spitting out fiery riffage and infectious hooks, the northern noiseniks boost a sound that is both truly captivating and anthemic, packed to the brim with attitude and a confidence that belies their age. In late 2011 the band won Best Overall band in Playmusic magazine..
Composed of Skarlett (Vocals and Guitar), Danny (Lead Guitar/Backing Vox), Tom (Bass/ Backing Vox), and Luke (Drums), Skarlett Riot have recently performed at Download festival 2012, Pepsi Max Stage, sharing the stage with the likes of: Reckless Love, Periphery, Firewind, Edguy. Previously the band have performed with established bands such as: Taking Dawn, L.A Guns, Glamour Of The Kill, Crashdiet, Vains Of Jenna, Black Spiders, Forever Never, Deaf Havana, and Francesqa plus many more.
The band’s debut EP “Villain”, released this year, received glowing accolades from everyone from Big Cheese, Kerrang to Powerplay and Rocksound. Their new music video in support of the EP release is currently rotating over on Kerrang & Scuzz TV. Scuzz have placed Skarlett Riot in the top 40 bands to rock Download festival, whilst Kerrang awarded the band with an amazing 4K live review from the festival.
I’ll be looking out for Skarlett Riot in 2013.
