Oh na-na-no, N-Dubz rapper Dappy could be facing a three-year jail sentence after a court found him guilty of affray on Thursday.
The 25-year-old appeared at Guildford Crown Court yesterday where a judge convicted him of one count of affray but he was cleared of two counts of common assault which included spitting on two girls, Serena Burton and Grace Cochran, whom he tried to persuade to get into his car outside a petrol station last February.
During the trial, the court heard how Dappy became angry when Burton and Cochran refused to get into his car, insulting the two girls, prompting a man who had just met the girls, David Jenkins, to intervene.
The ‘No Regrets’ rapper spat at Jenkins and put him in a headlock while two of Dappy’s friends began attacking Jenkins and his friends. Dappy addressed his conviction on Twitter on Thursday evening, saying he didn’t accept the guilty verdict.
“Not guilty For spitting at the Females but Guilty for defending my self from the 3 Males!!!! #ThisAintRight,” he added.
The 25-year-old also retweeted a message from his friend, TOWIE star Kirk Norcross, which read: “The justice system is f**ked!!!! U have perverts walking the Streets and u would rather convict people with no proper evidence!”
An affray conviction usually carries a maximum jail term of three years. Dappy will be sentenced on February 15.
