Following their landmark, end of year, hometown gig, in which The Last Party opened the Manchester Christmas Lights Switch On to 20,000 people – the band announce the release of their second single, Devil’s Lips – February 18th, TLP Recordings PLUS two headline shows at the legendary This Feeling club night.
Directed by Andy P. Ellis & Jamie Shelton (This is England & Emmerdale), of Northern Lads Productions, the video for the track offers cameos from a whole host of local talent including: Ciaran Griffiths (Shameless), Nicky Bell (Awaydays & Robin Hood), Kirsty-Leigh Porter (Emmerdale), Luke Tittensor (Shameless), George Newton?(This Is England & Dead Man’s Shoes)? plus several others and charts the rise and fall of lead character Belle (Sammy Burns) – an aspiration-less, aging gold digger with those stereotypical, prosthetically enhanced DEVIL’S LIPS.
Written in disgust after frontman Liam Manton had the misfortune of catching Channel 4’s “Sex, Lies & Rinsing Guys”, Devil’s Lips sees the band serving up a razor-sharp observation of the surgically-enhanced, gold-light chasing culture which Britain is engrossed in.
Akin to The Last Party’s formula which has won them adulation of critics, TV/Radio Producers & their ever growing loyal fan base, this hook filled-pop song takes inspiration from the masters of the past (Tamla Motown, The Rolling Stones, Phil Spector’s Girl Groups) and stands tall in the now as an up-tempo pop gem, glittering with harmonies and laced with venom.
The Last Party headline This Feeling London Queen of Hoxton (Feb 9th) and Manchester FAC251 (Feb 16th)
