Triggerfinger is a fiery threepiece from Antwerp consisting of strong characters: guitarist and singer Ruben Block, drummer Mario Goossens and bassist Paul Van Bruystegem – aka Monsieur Paul.
Their magnetic third album ‘All This Dancin’ Around’ has a distinctive and original sound mixing garage and heavy rock with blues, astounding hooks and power riffs truly capturing the riveting power of their live performances. Produced by Greg Gordon (Oasis, Wolfmother, Slayer and Soulwax) in Los Angeles’ famous Sound City studio (where Fleetwood Mac recorded ‘Rumours’, Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ and Queens Of The Stone Age ‘Songs For The Deaf’) there are big things expected of this album – Monsieur Paul recalls “It was the first time in my career that I came out of the studio and realised that everything actually sounded even better than I thought it did in the studio at the time”.
Triggerfinger’s strong bass lines and hard driving drums mix grandiose rock with Ruben Block’s smooth vocals balanced by moments of brooding introspection. Sharp rock songs like opener `All This Dancin’ Around’ is later followed by `I’m Coming For You’. With its heavy rhythmic bass and slick guitar work it’s a more haunting track with a dominating dark sound. The dark jail song ` All Night Long’, written by Ray Charles, has a deeper bluesy pace – accompanied by the masterly vocals of Block it maintains the powerful rock which is at the album’s core. The 8 minute epic ‘My Baby’s Got A Gun’ teases listeners, opening softly with a slow pumping bass line the tension builds, explodes, ebbs, and explodes again.
Triggerfinger’s winning Redbull Soundclash performance in March last year went viral and their recent support slots for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Within Temptation and Thin Lizzy have lifted the band to a new level making them one of Europe’s most sought after live bands. Having formed in 1998 Triggerfinger, who cite The Cramps, Howlin’ Wolf, The Black Crowes, The Cult and Led Zeppelin as their influences and are dubbed “the loudest band in Antwerp”, have toured relentlessly playing at clubs, pubs and festivals throughout Europe to develop their fierce and uncompromising sound.
In 2012 the band’s international profile was given a boost when they performed an acoustic cover of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’ in a live radio session. An instant hit, the track was a released as a single and stayed at number one for 9 weeks in Belgium & 13 weeks in Holland, as well as reaching number one in Austria and Poland, top 10 in Germany and top 20 in Switzerland.
Triggerfinger have three live UK dates in March:

8th March – Manchester, The Deaf Institute
9th March – Glasgow, King Tut’s
