Steve Folk is a travelling troubadour, living and recording his music on his two roaming canal boats. Last summer Steve took his boats along the Kennet and Avon Canal to play at various venues from London to Bristol to promote his new album Ramble.
Steve now has 3 albums available (under the guise of Steve Thompson AKA Blabbermouth) and his new single Urban Fox with b-Side Home celebrates both the sheer joy of city life and the need of a retreat! The single is released on April 29th.
The single is accompanied with a heart-warming and amusing video of two urban foxes making their way into the city from their rural beginnings; the b-Side “Home” is the sequel to this story and another video will accompany the song further down the line.
His live CV is hugely impressive having played with artists like Seth Lakeman, Show of Hands, Sam Carter, The Magic Numbers and many other established acts. Return invites include The Sidmouth Folk Festival and has played at The Wadebridge Folk Festival, The Crawley Folk Festival, Farm Festival, The Two Rivers Festival and many more community Festivals. Steve has performed all over the UK and has also played gigs in New York , Philadelphia , Amsterdam , Paris and beyond. As we say, quite a CV.
Steve had also played for charities such as OxJam, Cancer Research and The Big Issue. An avid busker, he is one of the few buskers that plays only his own material, Steve has busked all over the country and confesses to have sold most of his CD’s this way, it’s this grass roots approach that makes Steve Folk a true Folk artist.
A passion for songwriting shines through on his new single “Urban Fox” and his skills as a producer and arranger are showcased with great results thus making Steve Folk one to watch in 2013.
